(click image)	Supporting Nuclear-Free Northern Europe In 1980, Dr Steinbock directed a nuclear war TV event called "The Moment..." for the Finnish public broadcaster (YLE). It sought to alert the Finns to the horrors of nuclear devastation. "There can be no impartiality in the struggle against nuclear war," he said using Stevie Wonder's "You Haven't Done Nothin'" and jazz dancers against the backdrop of nuclear explosion. In view of the Finnish YLE. the TV event is "an unforgettable piece of Finnish television history."

	COVID-19: Missed Opportunities, Or New Beginnings? BRUNO KREISKY FORUM for International Dialogue, Vienna, Austria, Feb 19, 2021. In a conversation with Ambassador Irene Giner-Reichl in Brazil, Dr Steinbock focused on the four missed opportunities in the struggle against COVID-19. "What we need is multilateral cooperation across all differences. It is moral, safer, and cheaper." The WHO's containment plans amount to a few billion dollars, he added: "It's a fraction of the $20+ trillion dollar pandemic relief." (For the video, click the image)

The Tragedy of Missed Opportunities Dr Steinbock's new report focuses on the COVID-19 human costs and economic damage. The global pandemic was not inevitable, as evidenced by the relatively successful containment by China and other early mobilizers. The US and the EU began full mobilization only in late March, 4-8 weeks later. Hence the huge human costs and massive economic damage. The report was released by Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, a major global think-tank.

	Trading the Global Future I-III Georgetown Journal of International Affairs, Aug. 20 - Sept 13, 2018. At the turn of September, Georgetown Journal of International Affairs - a major US journal on international relations - published Dr Steinbock's three-part series on "Trading the Global Future." It outlined three arguments against the Trump administration's US-Sino Tariff Wars - bad timing, bad policies, and bad consequences. In the last part, he also outlined three possible outline scenarios.

What Next With the Trump Tariff War? "The Point with Liu Xin," China Global Television Network, Aug 8, 2018. America's 25% tariffs on $16 billion of Chinese imports will start on August 23. This is the second batch of the first round of tariffs targeting a total of $50 billion dollars. How will China react? Dr Steinbock expected Trump to escalate tariffs and China to retaliate, for now. The show also featured Dennis Wilder, Special Assistant to Former US President George W. Bush; Prof Tu Xinquan; and Ass Prof Luo Yongkun (CICIR).

WEF Releases Dr Steinbock's Column World Economic Forum, September 20, 2017. World Economic Forum (WEF) has released Dr Steinbock's BRICS column, " The global economic balance of power is shifting." In contrast to some other international observers, he argues and his research shows that BRIC economies continue to grow. By the late 2020s, the size of China’s economy will surpass that of the US. Interviews in Major Global Media	Post-Hamburg G20 (Mabini Dialogue) Briefing at the Philippines Foreign Service Institute, July 31, 2017. In the recent G20 Summit, trade and climate change reflected new frictions and new alignments. While there was rapprochement of interests between Brussels and Beijing, the two differed in terms of values; while values continued to unite the White House with Brussels, the interests no longer did. Are these frictions temporary or longer-term? Do they typify concerns such as globalization, immigration and defense?

China in Era of Economic Uncertainty Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), July 2017. Dr Steinbock has agreed on a year-long research project with SIIS.
